A. —Poecil(o)-
1. [Poecilo- devant un élém. à initiale consonantique]:
poecilogonie, subst. fém., biol. ,,Particularité présentée par certaines espèces animales d'offrir deux modes différents de développement suivant l'abondance des réserves de l'oeuf, laquelle varie avec les conditions de milieu`` (THINÈS-LEMP. 1975). La poecilogonie peut être géographique, éthologique ou saisonnière (dimorphisme saisonnier ou générations alternantes) (SÉGUY 1967).
poecilogynie (-gyn-, du gr. «femme, femelle» + -ie), subst. fém., biol. ,,Polymorphisme des femelles, observé souvent chez les papillons`` (Méd. Biol. t.3 1972).
2. [Poecil- devant un élém. à initiale vocalique]:
poecilandrie (-andr-, du gr. «homme» + -ie), subst. fém. biol. ,,Polymorphisme des mâles, observé surtout chez les crustacés et chez les insectes`` (Méd. Biol. t.3 1972). On distingue (...) la poecilandrie de stature, la poecilandrie de couleur et la poecilandrie sénile (SÉGUY 1967).
B. —Poïkilo-:
poïkilodermie (-derm-, du gr. «peau» + -ie), subst. fém., méd. ,,État bigarré de la peau, marquée d'un réseau de petits capillaires et d'un réseau pigmenté enserrant de fines aires atrophiques (blanches)`` (Lar. Méd. t.3 1972). L'autonomie des poïkilodermies en tant qu'entités cliniques est aujourd'hui controversée (Méd. Biol. t.3 1972).
poïkilothymie (-thymie), subst. fém., méd. ,,Constitution mentale analogue à la cyclothymie, mais qui diffère de cette dernière par des sautes d'humeur plus marquées`` (Méd. Biol. t.3 1972).
C. —Poïkilo-/poecilo-:
poïkilocytose, poecilocytose (-cyt-, du gr. «cavité, objet creux» + -ie), subst. fém., méd. Anomalie de la forme des globules rouges. Quand les globules se déforment facilement, on dit qu'il y a poïkilocytose (BRUMPT, Parasitol., 1910, p.52). Il existe (...) de la poecilocytose (GUIART ds Nouv. Traité Méd. fasc. 4 1925, p.403).
poïkilotherme, poecilotherme, adj. et subst. masc., biol. (Animal) dont la température centrale dépend des variations thermiques du milieu (d'apr. THINÈS-LEMP. 1975). Les tissus des vertébrés poïkilothermes ont été parmi les premiers cultivés (J. VERNE, Vie cellul., 1937, p.48). Enfin, intermédiaires entre les homéothermes et les poïkilothermes, les hibernants constituent un matériel précieux pour analyser les processus de l'engourdissement saisonnier et du réveil printanier (Hist. gén. sc., t.3, vol. 2, 1964, p.645).
Rem. Si la double forme poïkilotherme/poecilotherme est bien att. ds les dict. gén. et techn., poecilocytose semble représenter, en revanche, une var. peu usitée de poïkilocytose (en dépit des consignes d'empl. de GARNIER-DEL. 1958).
